Do you feel Anxiety is taking over your life?
Anxiety can present itself in many ways. We tend to give it different names, like having a bad mood, feeling stressed, I'm just awkward with people, and more. It also manifests in different behaviors, like nail biting, hair twirling, racing thoughts, fast speech, and more. When anxiety controls relationships, self-care, and quality of time, life tends to be overbearing. You feel like you want to escape the situation, or stay home, postpone meeting people, or just dive into activities that distract you from the situation. It can become hard to get going again for fear of something going wrong. Sometimes it feels difficult to just breathe, or to think clearly. When you are overcome with this anxiety, more often than not you do things that you think back on later and regret. Anxiety can come from the past, from a mistake or occasion that happened before and can cause you to worry about the present or future, even if the probability of it reoccurring is minimal. You have to keep in mind that anxiety isn't the defining part of you. Even if it causes you to mess up, it CAN be fixed. Think of anxiety like a friend you need to comfort. If your friend is worried, even if that feeling is irrational, it helps to reassure them. Let it be known that the anxious feelings they are experiencing are only the negative of the situation, and that there is another side to it. You do not have to let anxiety control you or your actions!
What to expect in sessions:
For many people, vulnerability comes with an amount of stress that can be unbearable. Sharing thoughts and feelings can be difficult, especially with a stranger. However, building rapport with your counselor is the first step to assure success and create a safe place in your journey to recovery.
Anxiety treatment is done by a trained professional, one on one dynamic to help you work through personal issues that you have been struggling with. Counseling is done in a private setting. Together, we can explore different issues that will help you in many types of situations that are causing you stress, pain, anger and grief.
Our journey together might be short-term (focusing on immediate issues) or long-term (complex problems). The number of sessions and the frequency of appointments depends on the individual’s situation and the recommendations of the therapist. Treatment modalities tend to vary depending on the issues in question. We can both discuss the options available and work on what best fits your need.
You have the option to come in person or stay at the comfort of your place and do telehealth.
Whatever the issue might be, we can create a treatment plan and work together.
